Mom Tip: Nursing/Feeding Station

As I have mentioned, being a nesting mom-to-be, I was always looking for a new project that would ease my transition into parenthood. Since I am one who enjoys convenience and organization; I geared my attention to the area of feeding. Prior to the arrival of my little one, I had all intentions of solely breastfeeding. However, due to latching circumstances, it was required of me to supplement with formula from his birth to present day.

With that said, this feeding station that I have created works well for nursing mothers, formula mothers and those who do both as do I. This station is located in a corner of my room:

  1. Reclining chair
  2. Cozy blanket
  3. Pillow

All of these items allow me to comfortably nurse and bottle feed my little one at any hour of the day and night! Next to the recliner I have my 3 Drawer Storage unit which houses all of my feeding essentials.

On top I have:

  1. Three reading books which I rotate out Steam Train, Dream Train, 10 Playful Penguins, and Me and My Dad!
  2. Brest pump machine
  3. Water bottle

In the first drawer I have:

  1. Medicines and Supplements
( Gripe water, Nighttime Gripe water, Mylicon Gas Relief and Liquid Vitamins)

In the second drawer I have:

  1. Extra sterilized bottles
  2. Spare nipples
  3. Spare nipple shield

In the bottom drawer I have:

  1. Parts for my electronic breast pump
  2. Manual breast pump

All of my basic needs and the needs of my baby are meet with my feeding station, making it one less thing to worry about during my busy day.

Mom Tip: Diaper Changing Caddy

Several times during my nesting stage, I was constantly looking for new projects and methods in which I could incorporate to prepare for the arrival of my little bundle of joy. Thanks to tips and suggestions from friends, family and social media, I quickly realized the need for as much as possible to be within arm’s reach; starting with diapers.

Of course one of the first projects that nesting mothers tackle first is the nursery. Everything from the paint color on the walls, to the assembly of the crib and organization of the changing table is planned out. However, I failed to acknowledge the thought that my newborn would hardly be spending anytime in his nursery, due to the fact that he would be sleeping in his pack and play at my bedside.

Needless to say, that since my newborn was to be in the room with me, it hardly made sense that I would be traveling from my room to his nursery in the middle of the night to change a soiled diaper! Thus the need for my Diaper Changing Caddy!

Simply put, it is a caddy/kit of all the basic needs for baby’s diaper changes; in my room, no more than two feet from the pack and play. Moreover, I have an additional caddy set up in the family room of my house!

In the caddy I have:

  1. At least 30 diapers
  2. Pack of wipes ( wipes warmer in master bedroom)
  3. Tube of Vasoline
  4. Baby lotion

All stored in a decorative storage bin.

My Diaper Changing Caddies are one of my many projects that I rely on and use the most. Since there is no need to run throughout the house, nor to scramble and search around for items,  I am able to spend more time and attention where it matters most!
